Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has three new games officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
